Jack White's Warm Up Routine - Jamming to Jay Z's 99 Problems

Bands have different ways of preparing for shows ... and apparently Jack White likes to do a little back stage jamming to ... Jay Z!

Prior to their first of show at Nashville's famed Ryman Auditorium - which are being streamed live via nugs.tv - Jack was caught on camera jamming along to Jigga

Jack's no stranger to Jay ... back in 2014 he mashed up The Black Album track with his own “Icky Thump”

Watch Nirvana

Nirvana fans - turn your speakers up ... because the band has just uploaded their  Live and Loud, a 1993 concert filmed at Pier 48 in Seattle, to YouTube.

The footage was originally broadcast on MTV (remember when they used to play music?), and a live recording was later released as part of the 20th anniversary of In Utero.

The show - featuring the band’s final touring lineup of Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, and Pat Smear - has also been released on vinyl and digitally, and is available here

But becuase the internet is so easy - you can check out  (most of) the show via YouTube below  ... the band didn't upload the cover of “The Man Who Sold the World” :/

Vampire Weekend at Merriweather: Oxford Commas and Peace Frogs [Video/Pics/Set List]

Vampire Weekend’s Father of the Bride Tour breezed through Merriweather Post Pavilion on Thursday (8/29) night … we say breezed because of the nonchalant nature of the set – the band seemed loose and comfortable jamming on the stage for over 2 hours.  The whole tour has been that way – starting with pop up shows in random parks in LA and NYC, then moving on to some early morning tour warm up shows …

The Merriweather Post Pavilion show – the venue they declared their favorite (it’s the third time they played there since 2010) – they breezed through some old favorites like  Holiday, Mansard Rood, Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa (not 8 minutes), Diane Young, A-Punk, and new favorites Sunflower, Harmony Hall, and This Life.  They also threw 2 covers into the set – New Dorp.  New York (from Ezra Koenig’s SBTRKT project) and Peace Frog by The Doors – in honor of the band having played Merriweather in 1968 (see video below)

The band ended their set a little earlier than Merriweather’s hard cutoff of 11pm – so turned to crowd for requests … the first request honored, Hanna Hunt, came from a fan sporting a homemade 8 minute Cape Cod bucket hat and snake earrings …the second – Diplomat’s Son (which they jammed in part of Pressure Drop by The Maytals) came from a fan wearing a Hard Rock Café Atlanta shirt .. they made him confirm he had actually been there before playing his request.. they ended the song asking where all the diplomats were … lol

Vampire Weekend - A Punk

The night ended with Ezra promising to be back soon (sooner than 6-9 years at least) and then stepping into the crowd to sign some autographs – again proving he’s just as cool as a cucumber – despite playing in front of 10,000 adoring fans …

Noel Gallagher Wants You To Sign A Petition To Get Foo Fighters To Split Up [VIDEO]

At last weekend's Reading Festival, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins adorned his drum kit with a picture of Noel and Liam Gallagher from their Oasis days.  During the set he declared - "One of these days we’ll get Oasis back. Let’s sign a petition. Everyone here, okay?”  Dave Grohl added - “We’re trying ... How many people wanna see Oasis fucking play a show?”

Apparently - word of the petition has made its way back to Noel Gallagher - who jokingly responded to the request before his own concert in San Diego last night:

“Any Oasis fans in the house? Fuckin’ love that shit...Is anyone gonna sign the petition Dave Grohl wants to get together to get us back together? I’d like to start a petition to get the Foo Fighters to split up. If that would be at all possible.”

From Daddy Daughter Duets to Jamming with Freddie Mercury: Just Another Weekend For Dave Grohl

Headlining two of Europe's biggest festivals, Reading and Leeds, would be enough for the average rock star.  But Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters are not your average rock stars.

Their epic weekend started at the Leeds festival, where the band headlined for the 7th (!) time ... mid way into their set, the band covered Queen's Under Pressure.  This version, with Dave on drums and Taylor Hawkins on vocals has become routine for their sets- but on this night, the band pulled a fan out of the crowd who was decked out in Freddie Mercury’s trademark yellow jacket and white pants with the red and gold line down the side, to join them on stage!

Later in the set - a special moment for Dave Grohl - as he brought out his daughter Violet to perform the song My Hero with the band

“This has been a special trip for me because on this trip we have a new Foo Fighter in the band with us...Let me tell you something—she is the best fu**ing singer I know...Ladies and gentlemen, the best singer in the Grohl family: Miss Violet Grohl right now, right here.”

Later in the weekend - while performing Run during the band's Reading headline set - Dave paid homage to the late Keith Flint - frontman of The Prodigy

“I wanna keep singing with you ... I wanna sing this one for Keith from The Prodigy ... Let me tell you something. I remember playing here with The Prodigy, 2009. That was the craziest shit I’ve ever seen,”

We Saw Lightning - The Night Running Tour at Merriweather [PICS & VIDEO]

Ever since The Night Running Tour, featuring Beck, Cage the Elephant, and Spoon, was announced - we knew it was going to be the show of summer (year even?)

And last night (8/22) at Merriweather the bands put on a rock display that was so hot - torrential down pouring rain couldn't stop it - literally!

SEE THE FULL GALLERY OF PHOTOS HERE

We started the night with a private acoustic performance backstage with Cage the Elephant for our Meals with Musicians winners ... and even acoustically - Cage is a wrecking force of ROCK

After the opening band Sunflower Bean's set - Spoon took the stage and blistered through an amazing set of hits ... didn't they just put out a greatest hits record?

Then as the sun went down - Cage the Elephant stormed the stage ... unfortunately - 6 songs into their set - the actual rain storms came and the venue had to be evacuated ...

Luckily- the weather cleared and the show went on - with Cage finishing their set - and lead singer Matt Schultz leaving the stage and heading straight into the crowd - making his way all the way to the top of the lawn!

Before Beck's headlining set - he took some time to meet with our Beck Photo Bomb winners backstage ... notice his hot pink pre show shoes!

Beck blistered through a shortened set due to the weather - but got all the hits in

Including a cover of Elvis Costello's Pump It Up (with Britt Daniels) and Night Running with Britt and Matt from CTE

WATCH: 5-year-old boy rocks out with Foo Fighters in Belfast

Dave Grohl has been known to pull people out of the crowd and bring them on stage at shows ... we've seen him shotgun a beer with a fan at Merriweather, play guitar with guys dressed like KISS , heck - we've seen Dave 'Rick Roll' an entire stadium ... but this week at a show in Belfast - Dave spotted a 5 year old fan in the crowd dancing his tail off and holding a sign that said the show was his "first-ever gig."

So what did Dave to? He invited Taylor (who was named after Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins) on stage to jam out to "All My Life"! The band played a sped-up version of the song, and Grohl asked the boy, "Can you show them how to dance?"

Well - the kid has some moves for sure!  Check it out!

David Hasselhoff's New Album Might Be His Most Bizarre Work Yet

Earlier this year - David Hasselhoff confirmed that he will be releasing a new album this year.  You read that right - the star of Baywatch and Knight Rider is also a noted recording artist in Europe - most famous in Germany for some reason ...

The Hoff's new album, titled Open Your Eyes, is due out September 27th , and features some interesting songs / collaborations ... including renditions of Echo & The Bunnymen’s “Lips Like Sugar” (featuring the The Cars’ Elliot Easton) and The Jesus and Mary Chain’s “Head On” (featuring A Flock of Seagulls), and Neil Diamond classic “Sweet Caroline” featuring industrial metal band Ministry.

Ministry frontman Al Jourgenson told Billboard

“It was the most surreal project I’ve ever been involved with. I didn’t even have to take acid, and I felt like I was trippin’ balls....David Hasselhoff has a new album coming out … and for whatever reason … he decided I would be the perfect person to mix this. So it’s like, ‘I’m game! I’ll take the challenge. This could be cool,’ and sure enough, man, as soon as I heard it, I felt like I was on some of Timothy Leary’s best MDMA I’ve ever been on!”

As of now - the only announced fall tour dates are in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland .... but maybe the Hoff will bless the states with a tour ...

Foo Fighters

The Foo Fighters are currently touring the globe ... but as the remaining dates dwindle - one has to wonder, what will Dave Grohl do next...

Never one to sit still ... it appears that Dave's been busy writing new material and plans to have the band back in the studio in the next few months.

This was confirmed by drummer Taylor Hawkins in an interview with RockSound.TV

Hawkins says (see the full interview below):

“Well, from what I’ve heard from our fearless leader Dave Grohl, he has a lot of demos that he’s worked on and I think we’ll start, once this tour is over… I think not too soon after that we’ll start the process of putting the songs together as a band... It’s a long process, we do a lot of demoing and stuff, but I think that we’ll have, I’m hoping, I think we’ll have a new record by next year. We should.”

Cage the Elephant and Spoon Join Beck On Stage for Epic Encores (Video)

As if the lineup for the Night Running Tour wasn't amazing enough Beck AND Cage the Elephant AND Spoon - at recent tour stops, members of the three acts have been jamming on stage together during the night's final encore.

Matt Schultz of Cage the Elephant (who start's his band's set wearing 5+ layers of clothes - peeling them off throughout the set until he's down to shorts, a tank-top and socks) has been joining Beck on stage to perform their collaborative hit Night Running.

Spoon’s Britt Daniel also has been joining Beck on stage to cover Elvis Costello’s “Pump it Up”

Check out video below to get you set for the Night Running Tour's stop at Merriweather Post Pavilion this Thursday (8/22)

Counting Crows' Adam Duritz Ditches His Iconic Dreadlocks

Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz has been rocking the dreadlock look since the early 90's, when he was telling fairy tales with Mr. Jones ...

Well, after many years, a few controversies, and a couple of extensions - Duritz has ditched the dread look and shaved his head!

He revealed the look on Instagram - declaring “I flew to London and shaved my head! Anarchy In The UK indeed motherfuckers!!!”

Jack White and Jack Black Are Teasing New Music Together In New Video

It appears that the Jack Black / Jack White  collaboration is really happening … after the two posed for a picture together in Europe, the internet went wild speculating that the two were going to finally get together for a musical project

We now have a behind-the-scenes video inevitably titled “Jack Gray,” featuring Jack Black and his Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass visiting  White’s Third Man Records headquarters in Nashville, posing for photos, take a tour, and recording a new single with White’s assistance.

Black says :

“This is a legendary collab.  Everyone’s been waiting for it. Now it’s here.”

The Black Keys Release Rehearsal Footage Ahead of Their Biggest Tour in Years [WATCH]

The Black Keys are back! After not  playing a full show since 2015,  Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney will hit the road this fall with a full tour  in support of their new album Let’s RockThe tour includes two nights at DC’s The Anthem with Modest Mouse.  Night 1 (Oct 12) is sold out … but a few tickets remain for Night 2 (Oct. 16)

The band recently played a short warm up set in Nashville exclusively for members of their fan club... and now footage from the show has been released … offering a glimpse as to what we can expect this fall.

The duo has added touring members Andrew Gabbard and Delicate Steve on guitar, and Zachary Gabbard on bass.

The video features a full take of the new single “Go,” a fast singalong that recalls the band’s El Camino anthems. The highlight? An out-of-control solo by Dan Auerbach that ends when drummer Patrick Carney breaks the tempo in half.

Check it out below:

The Black Keys - Go ["Let's Rock" Tour Rehearsals]

Earlier this year, Dan Auerbach talked to Rolling Stone about returning after their hiatus:

“It’s this magic that happens with Pat and I.   It was the same thing that happened when we were 16 and started playing, and magically, it just sounds like music. It was really awesome, having the break and then coming back and just playing with Pat again. It felt great.”

Patrick Carney added:

“We didn’t think about the context of the state of music in 2019… It’s very complex and freaks me out. Are the charts important? No. Is making music with Dan important? Yes.”

Rediscovered YouTube Video: Lizzo's 2011 Cover of Adele's 'Someone Like You' [Watch]

Yesterday's music crossover was Billie Eilish reimagined as Green Day  ... today, its Lizzo covering Adele's 'Someone Like You'

8 years ago- Lizzo - the superstar taking the summer scene by storm- took to YouTube under the user name "lizzomusic" and the then-23-year-old Lizzo plays the piano and sings her way through Adele's 2011 hit ...

The video's description reads - "Hey! Bored & playing around with music again. Found the chords and decided to have some fun"

She also posted a cover of Alicia Keys and Jay-Z's "Empire State Of Mind," played entirely on the flute!

Check them both out below:

Hear Billie Eilish's 'Bad Guy' in the style of 'Dookie' era Green Day

Billie Eilish - the 17 year old electro pop phenom who is currently taking the music world by storm - has listed Green Day and Billy Joe Armstrong as some of the influences to her musical career ... and now - a dedicated fan/Youtuber Nathan Sharp - has taken the liberty to answer the question we've all asked - what if Green Day had actually recorded the song Bad Guy in 1994 and included it on their breakthrough album Dookie ...

Hear the reworking below ... it's actually not that bad ...

Dave Grohl joins the Bird and the Bee for Van Halen Covers [WATCH]

The Bird and the Bee have released an album of Van Halen covers called Interpreting the Masters Volume 2: A Tribute to Van Halen. On it, Beck makes a cameo as Dr. Goodbody on the version of “Hot for Teacher.”

The band played an album release show in LA and made an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

With Beck busy on his Night Running Tour (coming to Merriweather Post Pavilion on 8/22) - the duo had to enlist someone else to ask the class to "turn now to page 69"  - and it just so happens that comedian/actor Randall Park was available and up for the role.

Oh - and they also had some guy named Dave Grohl join them on stage for the guitar free / drum heavy version of the song at the LA show.

The band was also joined by Grohl on The Late Late Show with James Corden - on which they performed “Ain’t Talkin’ ’Bout Love”.

See videos of both below:

Supergroup 'The Highwomen' share cover of Fleetwood Mac

The Highwomen -  the country supergroup featuring Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris, and Amanda Shires (and a modern, female version of country supergroup The Highwaymen, which featured Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson?)  recently made their live concert debut at the Newport Folk Festival - with a little help from Dolly Parton

Powerful harmonies are clearly the group's forte - so it makes sense that their first 'release' is a cover of the  Fleetwood Mac song, “The Chain” - full of harmonies putting their voices in perfect balance.

“The Chain” won't be on The Highwomen’s yet to be released debut album but will be on the soundtrack to the new film The Kitchen. We got a taste of the track in the movie’s first trailer, and now we have the full version of the song .... check out both below.
